The Santa Rosa County School Board held its first meeting of the new school year on Aug. 23 and discussed test scores that measure the effectiveness of the district’s schools.
The national averages for the ACT test were released in mid-August, and Florida ranks near the bottom of the pile, coming in 46th out of 51 states, which included the District of Columbia.
The national average composite score on the 2012 ACT was 21.1 on a 36-point scale. Florida’s average composite score was a dismal 19.8.
