Students of Holley-Navarre Middle School took the lead to read last week, participating in activities designed to promote literacy in school.
Community partners came to HNMS to read to the students as part of Florida Literacy Week. Many, including Tim Wyrosdick, superintendent of Santa Rosa County School District, chose to read books from the Sunshine State Young Reader's Award Program.
Wyrosdick spent time reading "Woods Runner" by Gary Paulson, the story of a young boy whose parents are captured by the British during the Revolutionary War, to Mary Howard's eighth-grade history class.
