Navarre grads receive ROTC scholarships

Nine Navarre High School students will trade caps and gowns for a uniform that’s adorned with a different kind of tassel this fall – the military kind.

As recipients of scholarships under the Reserve Officer Training Corps, Ryle Cannon, Zach Ledford, Matthew Erwin, Will Bush, Seth Staley, Erikka Jones, Julie Bright, Jessica Laye and Rachel Glenn will soon don apparel appropriate to their branch of service, alongside the favored uniform of college students everywhere: t-shirts and jeans.

“It’s definitely exciting,” said Cannon, a stand-out cadet in the schools Navy Junior ROTC program who plans to attend the University of South Florida in Tampa.  “I’m really looking forward to getting there and getting started.”
