On May 4, the Liberty Counsel, an organization dedicated to "restoring the culture by advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life and the family," filed in federal district court a comprehensive lawsuit against the Santa Rosa County School District and its Superintendent, Timothy S. Wyrosdick, for "their persistent and widespread violations of First Amendment rights," according to a press release.
On the same Pensacola federal courthouse building's front steps where just months ago Frank Lay and Robert Freeman and their supporters celebrated a victory when Judge Case Rodgers found the pair "not guilty" of violating a school-district-designed consent decree in response to an American Civil Liberties Union suit brought against the school district in a First Amendment/school prayer issue, the Liberty Counsel held a symbolic announcement and rally to proclaim publicly that the law suit had been officially filed.
