The only speaker during the public-forum segment of the April 22 meeting of the Santa Rosa County School Board, Navarre resident Etta Lawlor addressed a long-standing issue regarding a district-constructed gate at the back of the Navarre High School property, allowing students free traffic through a vacant lot and onto Bristolwood Circle and into a residential area where she lives.
"This back walk-through gate in the school's fence should not be left open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year," said Lawlor. "I am not going to get into what I have witnessed happening at the back of the school because of this gate."
