Parents and teachers, take note: Rewarding perfect attendance could place students’ health at risk.
“In some teachers’ programs, students who don’t miss class don’t have to take final exams,” said Santa Rosa County Health Department epidemiologist Samantha Rivers. “If (students are) sick and coming to school, I need to talk to you about changing that.”
Bill Emerson, the district’s director of high schools, said staff is working to stop the practice.
