Mandisa keeps it real

Mandisa, a former “American Idol” contestant, will be opening for TobyMac on Dec. 13 at the Pensacola Bay Center.

America first heard Mandisa sing during season five of “American Idol.” While she didn’t make it to the end, placing ninth, she inspired many through her struggles and through her voice.

Since her debut on “American Idol,” she has released four albums: True Beauty, 2007; Christmas Joy EP, 2007; Freedom, 2009; and What if we were Real, 2011. She has been nominated three times for the Grammy’s Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album, and nominated three times for the GMA Dove Awards. She recently took time to answer questions from the Navarre Press.
