For every five abused or neglected child, there is only one Guardian ad Litem volunteer in a four county area.
“Today in Florida too many abused or neglected children will go to court with no one there to stand up for them – to be their voice,” wrote Alan Abramowitz, Florida GAL Program executive director.
GAL, a nonprofit organization, was created to bring together a network of profession staff and community advocates to provide a strong voice on behalf of Florida’s abused or neglected children. In Florida, there are 21 local GAL programs for the 20 Florida judicial circuits.
