Building relationships through mission work

Brad Folkers teaches children the Rotary Four-Way Test that emphasizes ethics and honesty during a recent mission trip to Guanaja Island in Honduras.

Since 1999, Sparkie Folkers has been personally involved with mission trips to Guanaja Island off the coast of Honduras.

“We had been going to Costa Rica, but after Hurricane Mitch (1998) our pastor recommended finding a place we could go, stay and make relationships,” said Folkers.

Folkers was familiar with Guanaja Island through diving trips she had taken, and she followed Hurricane Mitch and knew the destruction the hurricane left in its path.
