A real American Idol

Keegan McMenamin, 12, performs with American Idol Lacey BrownAmerican Idol finalist, Lacey Brown, joined Coast Community Church’s tailgate party this past Sunday. Members of the church were encouraged to wear their favorite team jersey and bring food like they would at a tailgate party. Lacey Brown was the first contestant (number 12) to be voted off of Season 9. “A lot of people say they cried when I was voted off; I cried, too,” she said.  “However, a lot of people don’t even make it as far as I did, and I’m very happy I had the opportunity.”  Brown grew up in Amarillo, Texas, and her parents, David and Connie Brown, are pastor and co-pastor of  Victory Church in Amarillo.

Robert Pooley, the lead pastor at Coast Community Church in Gulf Breeze, saw Lacey speak at a conference for the Association of Related Churches – ARC – of which Coast Community is a member.

“He kept asking me,  ‘What is it going to take to get you to talk to our church in Gulf Breeze?’ and I said, ‘Just ask.’”
