Six months ago, congregants of the Navarre United Methodist Church put the finishing touches on the newest facet of their We Care mission – the Good Neighbor thrift store.
Hardly anticipating a great financial return, Jack Bloomer could barely contain his excitement when he announced a gain of $10,357 – minus taxes, rent and utilities. The amount went directly back into the church’s mission funds, which inevitably end up back in the community.
As a way of saying “thank you” to the 63 store volunteers, Bloomer organized a dinner ceremony, bringing together other store contributors, such as Wal-Mart and Winn Dixie on Oct. 3.
