Repairs on the Navarre Beach Causeway and sound relief bridge will cost an additional $769,497.20 to remove lead-based paint from the bridge.

Repairs on the Navarre Beach Causeway and sound relief bridge will cost an additional $769,497.20 to remove lead-based paint from the bridge.

County Engineer Roger Blaylock made the request for additional funds to cover lead abatement removal during the Dec. 10 county commissioner’s meeting.

Blaylock explained that when samples of the paint were taken and tested, the results came back with 10.32 percent of the paint weight was lead and not paint material.
