Gulf Reefs finally installed

The Gulf reefs are finally going in about four months after the sound-side reefs were installed. Mike Sandler, with the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary Committee, said there will be 30 reef structures with that will have discs on them.

The reefs will be at least six feet under the water and will not be level like the reefs in the sound. According to Sandler, that's because the Gulf bed is sloped whereas the south bed is level.

“On a clear day, you should be able to see them,” said Sandler.

If all goes well and there are no mishaps, and the weather remains clear, the reefs’ installation could be completed as soon as tomorrow, Sept. 21.
