Local surfer honored with beach memorial

J.D. Lee took his final ride on the Gulf waves during his memorial service held at the Coral Reef condos in Destin.
“The saints are rejoicing that he’s home,” said his stepmother Jennifer Lee.
Lee’s body was discovered Tuesday, July 24, after a 24-hour search when he failed to surface after a skin-dive off the Destin shores.
