Despite urging from firefighters, the Navarre Beach Volunteer Fire Department board of directors denied a request to purchase a $7,000 Sea Doo for water rescues during a May 9 meeting.
Fire Chief Howard requested the purchase of an additional water rescue Sea Doo because the department only has one. During a water rescue last month, the department’s only Sea Doo wouldn’t restart once it was out in the water and the firefighters had to call the Pensacola Fire Station to assist.
