Georgia man drowns on Navarre Beach

     A Georgia man vacationing on Navarre Beach with family and friends drowned yesterday, July 7,  after attempting to save another swimmer caught in a rip current.

Navare Beach firefighters and Holley-Navarre firefighters responded to a call around 6 p.m. in Navarre Beach County Park for a man who was in cardiac arrest. The  43-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, had been pulled ashore by his companions, who were conducting CPR on him.

Lifeguard ambulance transported the swimmer to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
