Gale force winds, pouring rain: A good day for a run

Run_250pxDespite horrendous weather conditions, Robbie Mann, the Navarre Raider cross country star, raced to a 10K win in the Pensacola Beach Run on Jan. 16.

Mann duplicated the feat that his brother, Brice, pulled off in 2006. Robbie averaged 6:22 a mile, completing the course in 39:33. In the process, he beat his brother’s previous mark of 40:56.

The start of the Pensacola Beach Run looked like a scene from The Deadliest Catch. Runners lined up dressed in anything they thought would protect them from the wind and cold rain. Standing water on the street covered their shoes. However, several inches of rain would not dampen their spirits.
