County to take control of community center

Santa Rosa County Commissioners spent more than an hour discussing the future of the Navarre Community Center during a Jan. 24 meeting.

Commissioners finally decided to give the Navarre Area Board of Realtors a one-year extension to occupy and manage the community center with the understanding that the county will take back control of the center next year. Within the next year, commissioners will decide whether to manage the center on a county level, sell the property or allowing the sheriff’s office to use the building as a substation.
