After several months of research, the Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Council received an “Economic Impact of Tourism on Santa Rosa County” report from the Haas Center at University of West Florida.
The TDC requested the study be done late last year to receive the most up-to-date information on how the tourism industry impacts the economy of the county. The TDC spent about $15,000 for the study. The report received on Jan. 2 was a draft of the final report.
“We have needed updated tourism statistics for a long time but were waiting for a year not affected by a storm or oil spill,” said TDC Executive Director Kate Wilkes. “People and businesses interested in this area need this type of information.”
