Tax exemption available for seniors

Even though Santa Rosa County Commissioners have not passed an ordinance approving the Senior Citizen Exemption, the county tax appraiser is now accepting applications for the exemption.

Florida Amendment 11 allowing counties and municipalities the option of offering the additional exemption received a 60-percent approval vote during the Nov. 6 election. The statute now allows counties or municipalities to pass an ordinance that would provide senior citizens an additional homestead property tax exemption.
