Incumbent U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller’s answer to a question during a recent debate in Pensacola elicited a shout of “liar” from the audience.
During an Oct. 9 debate held by the Northwest Florida Tea Party held at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church in Pensacola, Miller was asked if the rights of American citizens had expanded, reduced or remained about the same under such laws as the Patriot Act, the National Defense Authorization Act.
Miller first asked for clarification and the moderator explained that he was asking about the allegations that a citizen can be detained without a warrant and without habeas corpus. Miller said that the NDAA does not allow the government to detain American citizens indefinitely, which is when someone in the audience yelled “liar.”
