Emergency radio operators hone skills

Bob Aldridge, from left, Doug Smith and Ray Crepeau work together to put up a communication tower that was used for a world-wide field day to simulate an emergency situation when a storm knocks out power and disrupts communication.

CERT establishes communications towers for emergency service providers until power is restored. The Navarre Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Amateur Radio Club held a field day from 1 p.m. on June 23 until 1 p.m. on June 24 to test equipment and procedures.
