Fresh Water – It’s worth the Price

Water is something no person can live without.

"Irreplaceable; can't live without it" is how Ken Walker, general manager of the Holley-Navarre Water System, described it.

The Holley-Navarre Water System services the south end of the county from the Santa Rosa/Okaloosa county line to the western boundary of the Holley by the Sea subdivision, and north of the Bay and south Eglin Air Force. Holley-Navarre Water System, Inc serves more than 14,000 customers.

Holley-Navarre Water System was established in 1969 and started pumping water in 1970. According to Walker, prior to 1969 the few people that lived in the area had private wells that tapped into the shallow ground water. This water, given its proximity to the surface, is fairly high in hydrogen sulfate producing an egg smell. It's not really as good as the water from the deeper wells." Walker said.
