A Navarre cyclist is listed in critical condition at Baptist Hospital following a collision with a car Sunday afternoon.
Terry W. Sims, 49, of Navarre, was traveling westbound on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 98 on his bike around 4 p.m. June 13 when he was struck by a truck driven by Victor L. Byers, 16, also of Navarre.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, Byers veered onto the shoulder, the right front of his vehicle striking the back tire of Sims’ bike.
Byers was cited for careless driving. He was wearing his seatbelt, and Sims was not wearing a helmet.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
