The state has earmarked almost $1 billion for infrastructure projects in Northwest Florida, more than two-thirds of it in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
“These are projects that have been planned and talked about that we thought might happen sometime in the future,” Florida Senate President Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, said Jan. 31 at Pensacola City Hall. “Thanks to negotiations we in the Northwest Florida (state legislative) delegation have had with the governor and the transportation secretary, we’ve moved up money in the (Florida Department of Transportation) Five-Year Plan and these projects are going to happen.”
