Florida justices hear leaseholder arguments

The Florida Supreme Court heard oral arguments on Nov. 6 in the case that challenges ad valorem taxes assessed on Navarre Beach property leaseholders.

The case stems from Greg Brown, Santa Rosa County property appraiser, and Stan Nichols, the county tax collector, assessing and collecting ad valorem taxes since 2001 on Navarre Beach leaseholders. The conflict in the case is whether the leaseholders of Navarre Beach are considered property owners, or leaseholders.
