Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Texas Gov. Rick Perry teamed up for a good natured, yet competitive fishing tournament today in Destin, Fla. The governors also had two Purple Heart recipients on board from Florida and Texas who fought in Iraq.
According to published reports, Sgt. Nathaniel Reichenberg of Jacksonville suffered migraines and hearing loss from a bomb explosion, and Capt. Dan Moran of Texas required three years of treatment to recover from extensive third-degree burns from an IED attack.
Scott and Reichenberg fished for the Florida team, and Perry and Moran fished for Texas.
Florida came out the winner with the most fish, but Texas caught the biggest fish.
“Let’s face it folks, when you go out fishing you want to catch the biggest, and Texas caught the biggest,” joked Perry.
