Officials probe fatal hit-and-run

Officials are investigating a hit-and-run accident that left a construction worker dead on U.S. Highway 98 tonight.

According to witnesses on the secene, a red sedan was driving erractically in the East-bound right lane of Highway 98 when it struck a construction worker near the 5000-block of Gulf Breeze Parkway, just adjacent to Midway Baptist Church.  The car then apparently sped away, while witnesses raced to help the man, who has not yet been identified.

The Holley-Navarre Fire Department, Florida Highway Patrol and Life Flight are on scene.  Navarre Press will provide more information as it becomes available.
