During their April 19 committees report meeting and after a lengthy exhange with Ken Walker, Holley-Navarre Water System general manager, the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners changed direction in their intention of moving forward with a proposed ordinance requiring periodic maintenance of fire hydrants.
Walker's straightforward concerns about duplication in bureaucracy and extra costs to produce redundant water-system reports resulted in Commission Chairman Gordon Goodin's suggesting an alternative approach preceding any ordinance.
