Navarre man found guilty in case involving child

Following a two-day trial, Navarre resident Michael Joseph Austin was found guilty by a Santa Rosa County jury of showing obscene material to a minor.

Austin.jpgAccording to a report issued by the State Attorney’s office, the 34-year-old Austin was arrested in February 2009 after a nine-year-old girl revealed that Austin had shown her sexually explicit videos during the summer of 2008.  A subsequent search of Austin’s residence uncovered DVDs containing sexually explicit scenes which matched those described by the child.

Austin is set to be sentenced in March before Circuit Court Judge Gary L. Bergosh.  He faces a maximum sentence of five years.
