Afternoon wreck ties up westbound traffic

A Navarre man was charged with careless driving following a three-car accident Wednesday afternoon.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, Harvey was looking off to the right, not seeing that traffic had stopped in front of him. Harvey struck a vehicle driven by Russell L. Asbel, Jr., 20, of Navarre, in the rear, knocking it into the rear of a vehicle driven by Kelly Foster, 41, of Navarre.

Asbel then spun around, hitting the driver’s side of Foster’s car, over-turned and laying to a final rest in the median, which blocked the inside westbound lane of U.S. 98.

Both Harvey and Foster sustained minor injuries. Asbel was taken to Gulf Breeze Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
