Surviving Step by Step: A New Beginning

My doctors appointment on February 10th went good. My blood work came back in the good range. Lost a pound or two. Been trying really hard since gaining from all the medicine. We discussed my new schedule for follow ups and when I may want to get my medi-port removed. Not anytime soon. I have places to be and things to do. Though it limits my physical abilities, it isn't that much of a bother. My doctor told me the Herceptin will stay in my body for up to six weeks. We talked about being aware of possible signs for recurrence and doing self breast exams. I will go back to see him in May. When leaving the doctors office that morning, I felt giddy. Very happy to be finishing my yearlong treatment plan. Knowing that as the weeks go by, my body would begin to feel better. And it does. Now I can see  what was treatment and what is from age. Mmmm. I do have more energy and want to get busy doing fun stuff along with job hunting. Before long, I will be working again and will be glad to contribute once again to my family.

In two weeks is my big trip to Jackson, Ms. with my sister. I look forward to girl time and having some good laughs. I have never done anything like this before but know it will be something to remember. We have dress up nights for different occasions and the parade will be fun to march in and see how everyone dresses. I'm real excited. There will be plenty of sparkle, glitz and bling going on during my four day stay. I will make sure the house is stocked for all the boys and leave a few reminders to help them out. Glad now that I taught my older sons how to wash and dry clothes. I'll keep the bleach items for me to do. They will do a good job while being away.

There isn't a day that doesn't go by that I'm not thinking about my cancer coming back. But I must live my life and enjoy everyday with all the beauty that surrounds me. We'll deal with that issue if it ever returns. Spring is around the corner and soon the birds will be singing and the flowers blooming. We will be painting the living room and dining room soon. What a project that will be moving all the heavy stuff. Not me of course. Painting I can do. Time for a good positive change. Should be interesting. I will keep all informed. Try to write a little more often. Until then, say hello to a someone new, help out a neighbor or friend and give a hug to a person who could really use one.

My Faith will keep me strong and my Family will make me smile. Life is Good.
