Surviving Step by Step:Happy New Year

December was full of good and bad. Besides trying to finish up shopping(which we did), there were Christmas parties and preparations for holiday meals. I hosted Christmas dinner and three days later another dinner for my brother and his family who came in from Texas. It was a wonderful time and kiddie land prevailed. They have four children under ten. My youngest son enjoyed having a lot of cousins to play with and visit. It was so nice to see my brother. It had been four years. Look forward to the next time we can all be together.

We weren't able to escape the year without a death in the family. My wonderful Mother-in-law passed away December 13th. It was not expected and that should say it all. My husband went up to Massachusetts for about a week. Was really hard for him. He did however see all his family and friends. Not the best way to see them. He saw a lot of snow and very cold weather. Colder than what we are having now in Gulf Breeze, Florida. I was afraid his flight wasn't going to get out but luckily he did arrive home on time. The children's smiling faces on Christmas morning made it a little easier for him. May Nana Rest in Peace.

Our refrigerator went on the blink New Years Eve. Since we live in hurricane country, we had plenty of coolers. Went out the next day to Lowe's and bought a new fridge. Ours was sixteen years old. Tried to get my appliance guy to come look but was not able to make contact. We really like our new one. Bigger and more stylish. The food we did have in our old one was still good. Threw out only an item or two. I consider us lucky to have notice it before we went to bed. But with this one bigger, it looks empty. Must fill it up more. Maybe less trips to the store. So... yeah!! We have something new already.

I have six treatments left counting this week. I'm looking forward to not having to go weekly. With my medi-port still in, until I can have it taken out, it will need to be flushed every few weeks. Not sure exactly how often at this time but will ask at my next doctors appointment. Which by the way will be my last Herceptin day. My recent doctors appt. was good. Blood work good. Lost three pounds. I thought that was good considering the holiday food consumed. I hope to start walking again. Been to cold. Will continue to take care of myself. The rest is up to the Lord.

My Faith will keep me strong and my Family will make me smile. Life is good.
