Talk Show Hosts,

Our lawmakers, regardless of party, have found ways over the years to give themselves personal perks, pay raises and pensions fit for royalty all funded by the American taxpayers without having to ask the voters. In some legislation and depending on how it might affect them, they have the audacity to add a provision so that legislation will not apply to them.
Only when our lawmakers are unable to use their positions for the fleecing of America, it will be difficult for them not to carry out their elected duties and they will think twice before making a civil servant position into a lifetime career!
I call on all talk show hosts to get your listeners to discuss ways to stop the unauthorized personal perks, pay raises and pensions fit for royalty that our lawmakers now enjoy.

Thanks for any time that you might devote to our situation,

Kurt A. Cosby

Get behind the "FairTax" movement - question candidates about support. Read the book(s) - very clear. It removes the "power" that congress has to play "favorites" via the tax code - hence many of their "perks".

Pete,
I fully support fair tax! Recently I was discussing this very issue with people from Oregon, I was floored by their response. They felt that if you make more money you should pay more to use the roads, anything that is supported by tax payer dollars. When I pointed out that 49% of the taxpayers support 100% of the tax dollars, they called me a liar. Ignorance/Stupidity is to blame for the lack of support. They (the people from Oregon) felt the people who had the initiative to go out and utilize the basic fundamental value of Capitalism should be punished. I just don't get it, our country was forged on the idea of you work hard you reap the benefits. How have we come so far left that instead of a land of opportunity, we have become a land of expected handouts?

Great question!

First, we need to understand the Political Spectrum/Economic Spectrum.
This slightly differs from textbook to textbook, but it generally looks something like this:

The Far Left..................................... Middle...............................The Far Right
(total government,................................................................(no government, 0%
100% control over every............................................................control over any
aspect of life)......................................................................aspect of life)

Communism/........Socialism..........Democracy............Republic............Anarchy
Fascism

Government owns everything............................................................Free Market

Unbeknownst to most Americans, our country was not designed to be a Democracy. In fact, you will not find the word "Democracy" anywhere in The Declaration of Independence or The Constitution. The United States of America was in fact designed by philosophers to be a Republic. A Republic is "ruled by law", whereas a Democracy is "ruled by majority". This is why for example, in a trial, a jury must make a unanimous decision, instead of relying on majority rules. "Majority rules" is actually very dangerous, as it allows a mob mentality to flourish, and a mob is not always right. *(Remember the Oxbow Incident)?

So, although we were designed as a Republic, over time, we morphed into a Democracy. Although Democracy is the stepping stone between a Republic and Socialism, it is still "in the middle", which means the government only maintains a moderate amount of control over our lives, which isn't too bad in my opinion, as we need government. It's a "necessary evil", as they say. We need government to maintain our infrastructure and provide for defense.

...So now, to answer your question "How have we come so far to the left that instead of a land of opportunity, we have become a land of expected handouts?"

Well, "The Men Behind The Curtain" as I like to call them, have a vision for America, and that vision is a Communist Society. In a Communist Society, there is no middle class. There are only 2 classes: The Bourgeois (rich) and The Proletariat (poor). In reference to the political spectrum, you can see that Socialism is the stepping stone from a Democracy into Communism.

"The Men Behind The Curtain", could by no means, convince 300million+ Americans to convert to Communism without a revolution, but what they CAN do, is slowly ease us into Socialism first, to soften the transition. And how can they do this??? ....By intentionally devastating us economically, making us more dependent on them, so that many Americans need these government handouts just to survive. (They create the problem, so they can swoop in with the solution). In this way, they have effectively morphed us into Socialism, and gained control over all of us. Although to some people, Socialism doesn't seem so bad, we must keep in mind that it is in fact the stepping stone into Communism/Fascism, and this is the place where historically, ALL genocides have occurred.

So this is how we have become the land of "expected handouts". This is Socialism: The Welfare State.

We shouldn't blame our fellow Americans, who are struggling to survive. This is what they want us to do: blame each other and fight each other. It's "divide and conquer", the oldest trick in the book. As long as we are fighting each other, our attention will be distracted away from the source of our real dilemma: our corrupt government.

We are at a crucial point in our Nation's history/future. Our government has been usurped by Communists. If we don't fight, and soon, to swing our nation back to the right, we will morph into a full-blown Communist Society, and it's not gonna be a nice place to live or raise a family. If anyone is interested in knowing what life is like in a Communist/Fascist society, read about Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini and/or Pol Pot.

With all of the laws passed in the last 10-15 years, our Constitution has been completely destroyed, and this is of the utmost importance, as this document is the only thing standing between us and total tyranny. Republican, Democrat, is doesn't matter. THEY ARE ALL ON THE SAME TEAM. The fact that we think we have a choice is an elaborate illusion created by them, to keep us docile and content.

So please, don't be docile and content. WAKE UP and do something before it's too late.

jend - Well said!
With latest election - looks like the march to Socialism will continue.
The nation appears to have reached the point of "democracy" where 51% can vote (and have) to use the government to take more and more property/money from the other 49% for "redistribution".
Sure - at the moment it was 51% to take money/property from 1-or-2-or-3% - but history (other countries, check out history of Argentina) shows it probably will not stop until anybody who has more than "average" will be eventually taxed more to support all who have less than "average"?
If haven't read it, read "Atlas Shrugged" (also now first two-thirds are out on DVD in two movies, movie part three due out late this year, early next.)
Reminds me of the saying that, "Democracy is when two wolves and one sheep have a vote on what is for dinner."

I've read Atlas Shrugged

...and my love affair with Capitalism continues.....

It's important to remember, that with EVERY election, we will continue the march toward Communism. (We're no longer marching toward Socialism. We're in it. THIS is Socialism.)
Until we all wake up and put an end to this charade, take our Republic back, and install a new government of the people, by the people, the men behind the curtain will continue to pull the strings.
Bush/Clinton/Bush/Obama/Gore/Kerry/Biden/Hillary...Republican/Democrat/Liberal/Conservative....it's all a show. They are all on the same team. They are all radical Communists, hired by the same people to carry out the same agenda, and they all worked together to export our manufacturing industries, get us into wars, destroy our sovereignty, economically devastate us, and take our Freedom away. It was a joint effort. It had to be. It took decades to destroy the greatest country on Earth.
