A look at how the ranked teams fared over the weekend

Navarre was one of two teams ranked in the top 10 in 6A to record a shutout over the weekend. The eighth-ranked Raiders blasted Milton 44-0 Friday as they improved to 7-0 overall and to 2-0 in District 2-6A action. Top-ranked Mainland also came up with a shutout as it rolled past Matanzas 41-0.

The Raiders have won 19 consecutive games in the regular season and will now play American Heritage out of Delray Beach for their Homecoming game Friday night at Bennett C. Russell Stadium. The Stallions are 1-5 and will be making the 620-mile trip up to Navarre.

It was the only opponent Navarre head coach Jay Walls could get to play the Raiders in week eight. This will mark the third ranked 6A team American Heritage has played this season. The Stallions lost 50-17 to fifth-ranked Naples in week one and fell 41-0 to sixth-ranked Miami Northwestern Sept. 16.

“It’s a one-year deal,” Walls said. “We called everyone from Louisiana to Georgia to South Florida to try and get a game. It worked out we got them. I’m surprised they agreed to make the trip.”
