Raiders remain at No. 8 this week

Not much changed in this week’s 6A Associated Press football poll. The Navarre Raiders stayed at No. 8 for the second consecutive week and were one of eight teams in the top 10 to remain in the same position they held last week.

Navarre improved to 6-0 Friday night with a 17-13 come-from-behind win over Escambia on the road and now owns an 18-game regular-season win streak. The victory marks the second time in three games the Raiders have held an opponent scoreless in the second half of a game.

The Raiders are one of five unbeaten teams in the poll. Top-ranked Mainland is among the unbeaten as well and remains at No. 1 for the second consecutive week.

The only changes were at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Reigning state champion Miami Central jumps from fifth to fourth and Naples falls from fourth to fifth.

Niceville is the only other area team ranked in the top 10. The Eagles are ninth this week.

Navarre is back in action Friday when it hosts Milton in a 7:30 p.m. game at Bennett C. Russell Stadium. It’s the first of three consecutive home games for the Raiders.
