EAGLE FREED IN HURRICANE MATTHEW AFTERMATH FROM CAR GRILL

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a resident of the Fleming Island area south of Jacksonville noticed the bird peering out of a passing car Saturday in the storm’s aftermath. The resident urged the motorist to pull over. The sheriff’s department says rescue personnel and deputies were able to work the bird free. It was taken to a wildlife sanctuary in Jacksonville but authorities say the eagle appears to be unharmed.

FLORIDA WORKER SHOCKED WHILE TRIMMING TREES AFTER MATTHEW

Officials with Martin County’s fire rescue department and the sheriff’s office tell local media outlets that the 47-year-old man was working on a lift when he touched the power line Monday morning. He was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami for treatment.

FLORIDA TWINS BORN EARLY AS HURRICANE MATTHEW APPROACHED

Their mother Jessica Polster says she and her husband had planned to stay home during the storm. But during an appointment Thursday morning, the doctor told her she was in labor and sent them to the hospital. Her due date was Oct. 19. Husband Anthony Polster ran home to prepare their house for the hurricane. Hours later the twins were born via cesarean section.

ELECTRICAL PARADE CLOSES ITS RUN AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Disney says on its website that the final parade would run Sunday night. It is relocating to Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The parade has dazzled visitors with floats covered in colorful lights featuring Disney characters since it first debuted at the Florida resort in 1977. The parade was on an eight-year hiatus beginning in 1991 at Disney World.

WOMAN DRIVES 3 MILES WRONG WAY DOWN FLORIDA HIGHWAY

Tarpon Springs police say 43-year-old Anna Marie Sosa was spotted about 3:45 a.m. Sunday driving north in the southbound lanes of U.S. 19. Authorities say she caused a minor accident with a southbound car that swerved to avoid a head-on collision.
