SUSPECT IN KILLING OF SLAIN LAW PROFESSOR PLEADS GUILTY

Luis Rivera on Tuesday pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for his role in what police have called a murder-for-hire plot that targeted professor Dan Markel. Rivera, who is already serving a 12-year prison sentence on an unrelated charge, is now sentenced to an additional seven years behind bars.

NORTH CAROLINA MAN ACCUSED OF GROPING TEENS AT WATER PARK

Roy McCormick was arrested Sunday after two teens who were visiting the area with a police explorers group say he groped them as they floated down a river at the park. Deputies tried to talk to McCormick but he asked for a lawyer. Park officials told investigators McCormick is an annual pass holder who has visited the water park multiple times this year.

2 MEN WOUNDED BY ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE AT FLORIDA GUN SHOW

The accident occurred Sunday in North Fort Myers at the Lee Civic Center. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says one man was reloading a gun when it fired. The bullet hit the man’s finger and then hit another man’s foot. Officials are classifying the shooting as an accident and no criminal charges are expected.

CLOSING TIME: TRIAL OVER SEMINOLE CASINOS WRAPPING UP

Attorneys for the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the state will give their closing statements on Wednesday. The second day of trial on Tuesday revolved primarily around the testimony of top gambling regulators. The trial could decide whether the tribe can continue to have blackjack tables at their Florida casinos.

CITY OF ORLANDO SAYS PULSE CALLS RECORD KILLINGS, SHOULDN’T BE DISCLOSED

The city said in a court filing last week that the sounds of gunfire and suffering can be heard on recordings. The city and two dozen media groups have been fighting over the release of more than 600 911 calls dealing with one of the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history. The city made public around two-thirds of the calls.
