PROSECUTORS: GIVE CONCERT PROMOTER 17-PLUS YEARS FOR FRAUD

Prosecutors said at a hearing Thursday that 73-year-old Jack Utsick deserves a lengthy sentence for defrauding some 3,000 investors by running his Worldwide Entertainment Inc. company as a Ponzi scheme in which older investors are paid with money from new ones. They say he lied repeatedly about its steep losses.

ORLANDO POLICE: LYFT DRIVER CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT

The Orlando Police Department says on its Twitter feed that 49-year-old Peter Solomon faces a sexual battery charge. He also was charged Wednesday with kidnapping and false imprisonment charges. Detectives warn that there could be more victims.

FLORIDA OFFICER FACES SUSPENSION FOR SLAPPING HOMELESS MAN

A citizens board will review the Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s internal investigation of the incident on Monday and make a recommendation to Fort Lauderdale’s city manager regarding Officer Victor Ramirez. Ramirez was caught on tape hitting and threatening Bruce LaClair after he fell as the officer tried to get him to leave a downtown bus terminal last February.

TEEN CHARGED WITH FATALLY STABBING OLDER BROTHER

The 15-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree murder. Authorities say the teen and his brother, 19-year-old Malik Kewsie Williams, got into an argument that escalated into a physical fight. The older teen was stabbed twice and died later at a nearby hospital.

OUSTED PUBLIC DEFENDER GAVE BIG RAISES BEFORE LEAVING OFFICE

Public Defender Matt Shirk in Jacksonville nearly doubled the salary of an administrative assistant, and upped the pay of an assistant public defender, among others. Shirk is leaving office in January after being defeated by former County Judge Charles Cofer in an Aug. 30 Republican primary. No Democrats ran.
