5 CHARGED IN $5.2M MIAMI AIRPORT LIGHTING FRAUD CASE

Federal court documents filed Friday show 46-year-old Ivan Valdes, a maintenance division director for the Miami-Dade County Aviation Department, is charged with theft from a program that receives federal funds. Valdes is also facing state bribery, bid tampering and other charges.

OCALA CITY COUNCIL GRANTS CHIEF PAID LEAVE DURING PROBE

Councilmembers voted 4-1 on Friday to place Chief Greg Graham on leave. A grievance was filed on Sept. 15 on behalf of officers Rachel Mangum, Casey Walsh and T.J. Watts. The allegations include sexual harassment, hostile treatment and retaliation and discrimination.

FLORIDA BOY SUSPECTED IN GIRL’S DEATH RELEASED FROM CUSTODY

Circuit Judge Sue Robbins said Friday the boy’s release is tied to a safety plan specifying that he shouldn’t be left unsupervised with children who are younger or smaller than he is. The child is accused in the June death of Journee Blyden, who died of head injuries investigators say she received while left unsupervised with the boy and his sister.
