Navarre goes global in cleanup effort

Murky skies and a little rain could not deter volunteers Saturday morning, Sept. 17, from participating in the 31st International Coastal Cleanup on Navarre Beach.

More than 30 students from Pensacola State College’s South Santa Rosa Campus dawned rain coats and gloves to pick up garbage bag after garbage bag of trash along the beaches and dunes.

Volunteers from the Navarre High School JROTC and Living Yoga will also be participating in the cleanup in the coming days. The Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary and Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center coordinated with the event organized by Santa Rosa Clean Community as part of the larger global event said Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary Director Mike Sandler. Sandler coordinated the PSC volunteers.
