A high speed car chase through Gulf Breeze ended in the DUI arrest of a central Florida defense attorney Saturday, Sept. 10.
Terra Carroll is charged with misdemeanor DUI, misdemeanor reckless driving, second degree felony fleeing/eluding police at a high rate of speed and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
According to Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office reports, Carroll led officers on an 11 mile chase through Gulf Breeze reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour in 45 zone.
The vehicle was first spotted on Highway 98 in Navarre, and officers attempted to stop her on Hickory Shores in Gulf Breeze. The officer reported Carroll nearly struck a pedestrian at one intersection.
As the pursuit continued, Carroll allegedly swerved around other vehicles and drove off the road and through turn lanes to pass other vehicles. Gulf Breeze City Police joined the pursuit.
In a school zone, Carroll allegedly drove her vehicle into oncoming traffic and struck the front end of a Gulf Breeze Police car.
Carroll was reported as noncompliant, refusing to roll down her windows, unlock the door and show officers her hands. Officers busted out her window and officers proceeded to pull her from the vehicle. As she was being pulled out, the Jeep rolled backward striking two officers before a third officer reached through the passenger window to put the vehicle in park.
Carroll was handcuffed and placed in the back of a police car as she chanted illegibly. She stopped chanting to request an attorney and to refuse DUI testing.
Carroll is being held in Santa Rosa County Jail on $110,000 bond.
