Raiders remain eighth in latest AP poll

Navarre’s football team remains at No. 8 in the latest 6A Associated Press state football poll. The Raiders (2-0) are coming off a bye week and return to action Friday night in a road game against Choctaw. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Raiders have won their last 14 regular season games dating back to 2014 and are looking to beat the Indians for the second consecutive year.

Navarre, which beat Washington 36-20 Sept. 2, has scored 77 points in its first two games and has given up 33 points.

Michael Carter has paved the way offensively for Navarre through the first two games, rushing for more than 300 yards and scoring nine touchdowns. The defense has been led by Bo Hering, who has racked up a team-best 14 tackles.

Miami Central, the reigning state champion, remains the No. 1 team in 6A after hammering First Coast 62-0. Area teams ranked in the top 10 this week are Pine Forest at No. 6 and Niceville at No. 10. Both teams are 3-0.
