Just eat real food

We have way-overcomplicated things. What if nutrition and eating were really simple? There are all kinds of rules and ideas and lists and charts and books to tell you what you should and shouldn’t eat. I’d like to propose a really simple way to think about nutrition: eat what God has provided. I came up with this not-exactly-brilliant concept when trying to explain to my kiddos what is healthy.

“If God made it, it’s healthy. If He didn’t, it’s not,” I said, optimistically hoping that this would end all future complaints and questioning. Would you be shocked to know that didn’t work?

Now if you don’t believe in God, go ahead and replace that with nature. Let’s break it down. All the foods that fuel our bodies best come straight from nature: vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, nuts, seeds and more. I get a kick out of so-called “superfoods.” No, they’re not actually super or extra special, they are just the food God intended for us to eat. That’s why they have all of these “superpowers.”
