Financial Peace University: Saving and giving can go hand in hand

First Baptist Church of Navarre is hosting Financial Peace University, a finance class centered on managing money through “God’s way,” Tuesday nights from 6:30-8 p.m. at the church.

Jamie Ellis is the Senior Public Relations Coordinator for Ramsay Solutions, the company that created and sells the program. She said that scripture is a big part of the teachings.

“There are over 800 scriptures about money and finances in the Bible,” Ellis said. “Financial Peace University combines God’s and Grandma’s way of handling money. Even though there is scripture sprinkled throughout the program, we have people of all faiths attend the classes and they still say its great information.”

In its first week at the church the class had roughly 20 participants ranging from fiscally established adults to teens just starting out in the financial world.

Participant Ken Rousseau said he was excited to see the younger participants.
