GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES 4 NEW ZIKA CASES IN MIAMI

Florida now has 21 people who contracted the virus locally. According to a statement Tuesday from Gov. Rick Scott’s office, the Florida Department of Health still believes active transmissions are only happening within a 1-square-mile area in Miami’s Wynwood arts district. Hillary Clinton, who visited Miami on Tuesday, is calling on Congress to immediately return to Washington to pass legislation to provide emergency funding for Zika testing, treatment and research.

FLORIDA JUDGE DENIES MAKING RACIST AND SEXIST SLURS

Circuit Judge Mark Hulsey filed his response Monday to charges being investigated by Florida’s Judicial Qualifications Commission, which says probable cause exists to investigate Hulsey for violating misconduct rules. Hulsey, who is running for re-election, requested a hearing.

FATHER OF ORLANDO NIGHTCLUB SHOOTER ATTENDS CLINTON RALLY

Seddique Mateen was standing in a crowd behind Clinton during the Monday night event in Kissimmee, south of Orlando. A campaign official told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he wasn’t invited to attend the 3,000-person, open-door public event and that the campaign wasn’t aware he was there until it ended. Mateen told news outlets after the rally that he loves “the United States.”

2 FLORIDA TEENS INJURED BY SHOTS FIRED FROM PASSING TRUCK

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officials say five to six shots were fired at the teens, ages 16 and 19, from a passing truck. They were each struck in the torso and taken to UF Health Jacksonville hospital with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening. Investigators are searching for the suspects, who drove away before police arrived.

WOMAN ACCUSED OF ALLOWING SONS TO SHOOT BBS AT HOMELESS MAN

News outlets report 36-year-old Amina El-Zayat of DeLand was arrested Sunday on aggravated battery, contributing to the delinquency of minors and child neglect charges. A DeLand police report says El-Zayat was driving when her children shot BBs from two airsoft rifles at the man who was picking through garbage at a gas station.
