Charlene Mauro knew she had been nominated for a prestigious award from the National Marine Educator’s Association but the science specialist with the Santa Rosa County School District had no idea she would actually win the Johnette B. Bosarge Memorial Award.
“I knew I was nominated by my colleague and mentor, Jean May-Brett, however, the award has gone to some remarkable educators and heads of large aquariums in the past,” Mauro said. “The selection committee is made up of phenomenal and accomplished individuals and I am honored they selected me.”
