School Board to give Food World a facelift

The Santa Rosa County School Board gave the go ahead Thursday, July 22 for the $1.45 million purchase of an old grocery store building in Milton to replace the district’s Berryhill Administrative Complex.

Located at 6032 Highway 90, the roughly 46,000-square-foot building will need several updates to house the Exceptional Student Education administrative offices along with other school board administrative offices.

Originally a Food World grocery store, it shares a wall and parking facility with a Kmart, and is located across from the corner of Avalon Boulevard and Highway 90.

According to documentation provided to the School Board, the building will need improvements to the roof, HVAC, drainage and a redesign to the layout.

Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services Joey Harrell said this property is a great deal.
