Smash and grab burglaries in south county

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says six “smash and grab” vehicle burglaries took place in south Santa Rosa County between Friday, July 15 and Wednesday, July 20.  All burglaries were in parking lots of area businesses.  Most of them occurred between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The vehicle involved in the majority of these incidents was described as a white Nissan Altima four-door car with a Florida Wildlife Foundation tag.  The tag was subsequently found to be stolen.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact the Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers at 437-STOP.  The caller remains anonymous.

Sgt. Rich Aloy, public information officer with the Sheriff’s Office advises citizens to lock up any valuables in the trunk of your car if you must leave it behind.  Do not leave valuables in plain sight, lock your car, and do not leave anything in your vehicle that cannot be replaced.
