Jackson arrested for child neglect with severe bodily harm
In a tragic case of alleged child neglect with great bodily harm, a three year old boy living in the 8000 block of Mercado Street in Navarre has died after spending several hours in a car in the driveway. Montana Rain Jackson, a 19 year old caregiver to the boy, was arrested on Friday. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says that additional charges are expected.
According to the police report, deputies were able to view surveillance from a security camera that had a clear view of the driveway to the home. In the video, the child was seen entering the vehicle at around 11:30 a.m. on Friday but he never exited the vehicle. At around 2:20 p.m. a male can be seen walking from the front of the house and getting a trash can from the side of the road. The male brought the trash can to the side of the house and then went back inside. At around 2:40 p.m., Jackson walked up to the vehicle and then took the toddler out of the vehicle.
In an interview, an unidentified 18 year old stated that he had been sleeping while Jackson cared for the three year old. After he awoke, the baby was found unresponsive in the car owned by the male and Jackson. He called 911 and EMS transported the boy to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola where he later died.
